Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that he believed Trump was right when he said that John Kerry violated the Logan Act.
“It’s true. I was there in Munich … I saw not only Kerry … [others] met with the Iranian leadership,” Pompeo said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.” “It’s unusual, but more importantly, it’s wrong.”
Pompeo was referring to Trump’s comments earlier this month when he said that John Kerry committed a treasonous act when he reportedly was talking to Iranian officials in an attempt to “save” the Iran nuclear deal.
“What I would like to see with Iran, I would like to see them call me. John Kerry, he speaks to them a lot. John Kerry tells them not to call. That is a violation of the Logan Act. And frankly, he should be prosecuted on that,” Trump said.
“But my people don’t want to do anything — only the Democrats do that kind of stuff. You know? If it were the opposite way, they would prosecute him under the Logan Act. But John Kerry violated the Logan Act,” Trump also said.
As you know, the Logan Act forbids unauthorized persons from negotiating with foreign governments.
John Kerry even responded to Trump’s accusations immediately.
