Former President Barack Obama is in talks with executives at online streaming giant Netflix to produce exclusive shows and other content for their production studio; expanding his “global platform” after serving two-terms in the White House.
According to the New York Times, the former President is in “advanced negotiations” with the company; working on a deal that would pay both Barack and Michelle Obama for exclusive content that would reach the platforms 100 million subscribers around the globe.
It remains unclear how many shows Obama plans to produce or a schedule for their release.
“The Netflix deal, while not a direct answer to Fox News or Breitbart.com, would give Mr. Obama an unfiltered method of communication with the public similar to the audiences he already reaches through social media, with 101 million Twitter followers and 55 million people who have liked his Facebook page,” writes the Times.
“Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories,” said Eric Schultz, a top Obama advisor.
