Former DNI Director James Clapper threw former President Barack Obama under the bus on Monday, saying that everything he and John Brennan had done was ordered directly by Obama.
Clapper made the remarks on CNN yesterday as he spoke with Jim Sciutto.
“Are you concerned that Barr or Durham’s investigation will find wrongdoing and seek to punish former intelligence officials like you?” Sciutto asked.
Clapper responded: “The message I’m getting from all this is, apparently what we were supposed to have done was to ignore the Russian interference, ignore the Russian meddling and the threat that it poses to us, and oh, by the way, blown off what the then commander in chief, President Obama, told us to do. It’s kind of disconcerting now to be investigated for, you know, having done our duty and done what we were told to do by the president.”
Here’s how the internet responded to Clapper’s remarks:
“ICYMI: James Clapper literally admitted on camera that it was president Obama that ordered the Code Red against candidate/POTUS-Elect/POTUS Trump:” wrote Adam Baldwin.
“Running for cover!!” commented another user.
“Clapper is the weakest link. Pressure him, he will spill the beans. He has been the weakest link since all this began. So much time wasted. If they had leaned on him in beginning all this would be over.” tweeted other user.
“Seems shocked at the idea his actions would be scrutinized” wrote another user.
