Mark Zaid, the attorney representing the Ukraine whistleblower, tweeted in January 2017 that a “coup has started” and that “impeachment will follow ultimately.”
Just a few months later, Zaid remarked: “I predict @CNN will play a key role in @realDonaldTrump not finishing out his full term as president.” Also that month, Zaid tweeted, “We will get rid of him, and this country is strong enough to survive even him and his supporters.”
The attorney assured his Twitter followers that “as one falls, two more will take their place,” apparently referring to Trump admin officials who defy the White House. Zaid promised that the “coup” would occur in “many steps.”
His tweets came shortly after President Trump fired then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates.
On Thursday, journalist Megyn Kelly called out Zaid for his anti-Trump tweets.
“I earlier said I’ve always known @MarkSZaidEsq to be a straight shooter (he’s helped clients in situations I’ve covered, no matter whether it would hurt a D or R admin). But these tweets are clearly partisan, harshly anti-Trump & reveal an unambiguous desire to oust the prez.”
Mark Zaid immediately responded by playing the victim and insistein he is a truly non-partisan.
“Amazing how many ppl completely misunderstand def of “partisan”. I have zero affiliation w/politics other than holding all public officials accountable. I wasn’t aware in America citizens had to like their president. Those are dictatorships.”
