Nancy Pelosi Doubles Down On “Cover-Up” Remarks

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doubled down on her remarks that President Trump has engaged in a “cover-up,” saying “this president is obstructing justice,” and “that could be an impeachable offense.”

Speaking at a press conference hosted by the left-leaning Center for American Progress on Wednesday, Pelosi said:

“The fact is, in plain sight, in the public domain. This president is obstructing justice and he’s engaged in a cover-up. And that could be an impeachable offense.”

“Ignoring the subpoenas of Congress was article three of the Nixon impeachment,” Pelosi noted. “As they say, the cover up is frequently worse than the crime.”

Pelosi’s previous remarks about Trump engaging in a “cover-up” resulted in Trump blowing up a planned meeting on infrastructure and railed against House Dems over “phony investigations.”

Trump said during the press conference he has been the “most transparent” president and has been dealing with a “witch hunt.”

“I don’t do cover-ups,” he responded to Pelosi.

“I walked into the room and I told Senator Schumer, Speaker Pelosi, ‘I want to do infrastructure. I want to do it more than you want to do it. I’d be really good at that. That’s what I do. But you know what, you can’t do it under these circumstances.’ So get these phony investigations over with.”
