Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blasted White House counselor Kellyanne Conway for her “catfight” remark. Earlier today, Conway described the ongoing feud between AOC and Pelosi as “catfight.”
“Catfight” is the sexist term Republicans use when two adult women happen to disagree with each other. The reason they find it so novel &exciting is bc the GOP haven’t elected enough women themselves to see that it can, in fact, be a normal occurrence in a functioning democracy. ” – tweeted Ocasio-Cortez
Kellyanne Conway made this comment after House Speaker Pelosi criticized AOC, saying AOC and three of her fellow freshmen from the caucus’ progressive wing “didn’t have any following” after they were the only members to vote against a border aid bill backed by House Democrats.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” said Pelosi “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got“
However, Ocasio-Cortez immediately responded to this remark.
“That public ‘whatever’ is called public sentiment. And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country.” – she said.
In addition, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez also added that her response wasn’t meant as an insult to Pelosi. “Having respect for ourselves doesn’t mean we lack respect for her. It means we won’t let everyday people be dismissed.”
