Kellyanne Conway denied that she’s a White House leaker on Fox News on Friday — and she took the perfect shot at the media while doing so.
After the counselor to the president predicted shake-ups in White House staff following a number of embarrassing leaks to the press, Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer said, “Now apparently some of the staffers at the White House are accusing you of being one of the chief leakers.”
“I haven’t heard that, but that’s pretty funny,” Conway responded. “If I were a great leaker, I guess I’d get much better press.”
She went on to explain that people at both the junior and senior levels in President Donald Trump’s administration have been leaking stories to the press. Hemmer then brought up the idea of Conway being in on spilling the tea.
“No, I’m not,” she shot back. “That’s a ridiculous notion, and I know there are plenty of people who don’t like each other, it turns out. They have to settle those disagreements on their own, frankly.”
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” earlier this week, Conway took aim at staffers who leaked White House aide Kelly Sadler’s controversial joke about “dying” Senator John McCain to the media.
“I think the people who were leaking last week clearly were doing that to hurt the people who were the target of those leaks,” she said, adding that not all of the leaks are coming from the communications department.
She later accused the leakers of trying to “hurt colleagues” during another appearance on the network, saying, “It’s not so much leaking as using the media to shiv each other, and that was going on quite a bit at the beginning of this administration and it’s less so now.”
What are your thoughts on this folks? Do you agree with Kellyanne Conway?
