House Speaker Pelosi shut down press questions about whether House is going forward with formal impeachment inquiry.
“I’m not answering any more questions about a possible inquiry, investigation, and the rest,” Pelosi snapped at the press who asked her about this.
Pelosi’s frustration led her to walk away from the podium, cutting her press conference short.
“Why is it that you are hung up with a word over here when lives are at stake over there?” the Pelosi said, walking out of the room.
Pelosi has resisted a formal House vote that would authorize the House Judiciary Committee to launch an official impeachment inquiry. However, Nadler said that the panel is conducting an official impeachment investigation. Today, House committee voted Thursday to establish formal rules for pursuing an impeachment inquiry.
The House Speaker said she supports Nadler and is “very pleased” with his committee’s work. However, Pelosi didn’t back his claim. In addition, she called impeachment “divisive” and said American citizens want the House to proceed forward cautiously.
“Legislate, investigate, litigate,” Pelosi said. “That is the path we had been on, and that is the path we continue to be on.”
Pelosi said Americans understand what the House is doing to investigate the president and the media are the only ones confused about it.
“There is nothing different from one day to the next,” Pelosi said. ”We are still on the same path.”
