President Donald Trump set the internet on fire Monday night tweeting an edited photo depicting a Trump Tower in Greenland.
Trump tweeted the hilarious photo and wrote: “I promise not to do this to Greenland!”
Trump’s tweet comes as a response to reports that he has expressed interest in buying the island territory, an autonomous possession of Denmark.
The president acknowledged the possibility himself over the weekend, calling it a “strategically interesting” plan.
“Strategically, it’s interesting, and we’d be interested, but we’ll talk to them a little bit. It’s not number one on the burner,” Trump told reporters from his Bedminster, N.J., golf club on Sunday while comparing it to a “large real estate deal.”
“And strategically for the United States, it would be nice. And we’re a big ally of Denmark, and we help Denmark, and we protect Denmark,” he said.
Officials from both Greenland and mainland Denmark categorically rejected the idea last week.
“We are open for business, but we’re not for sale,” said Ane Lone Bagger, Greenland’s foreign minister.
Earlier on Monday, Trump’s son Eric Trump also shared the same photo in an Instagram post:
“I don’t know about you guys but I love the concept of buying Greenland,” Eric Trump captioned the photo.
Here’s how people responded to Trump’s meme:
“I can picture President Trump sitting in the OVAL, after a productive day, chuckling as he tweets to trigger the left. BEST POTUS EVER!” wrote one user.
“LOL! President Trump displays the best witty humor!”
“So refreshing to have a leader with a sense of humor! Bravo President Trump!” added another one.
“CNN prob thinks this is a real picture.” joked another user.
“Epic Tweet Mr. President!! 🙌🏼😆👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼” wrote other user.
“How can anyone not love the humor of President Trump? This guy is great.”
