New polling from Rasmussen shows that President Trump’s approval rating remained at a healthy 50% despite days of negative media coverage focusing on the FBI’s raid of the President’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.
According to a survey from Rasmussen, 50% of likely American voters approve of Trump’s job performance, with 32% strongly approving and 49% disapproving.
“All three nights in this survey follow Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s invasion of the office and home of the president’s personal lawyer to seize confidential records,” adds the report.
The President’s support comes as strong economic data suggests a soaring US economy, while a possible military encounter in Syria catches the attention of the nation.
The numbers also raise serious questions for Democrats heading into the 2018 midterms, with Republicans erasing large liberal gains in recent weeks as both parties struggle for control of Congress.
House Speaker Paul Ryan has announced he will not seek reelection in November, but late last month just 30% of his fellow Republicans felt it would be bad for their party if Ryan stepped down.
