“The View” hosts took a shot on Vice President Mike Pence, Monday, for refusing to stand as athletes from North Korea and South Korea marched into the stadium during the opening ceremony at the Olympics.
One of the hosts, Sunny Hostin started by making reference to Pence leaving the NFL game in October after the players protested the National Anthem by taking a knee (video below).
“I thought that Mike Pence said that it was inappropriate to make political statements at sporting events,” Hostin started. “Wasn’t he that guy who walked out of the football game because people were kneeling and not standing?”
Then, her co-host Whoopi Goldberg continued:
“If you’re in Korea, you need to stand up,” she said. “You need to stand up and show respect.”
The rest of the panel was largely in agreement with Whoopi and Hostin, except for Meghan McCain.
“I don’t think I would have stood either,” McCain said. “I have such a problem with what’s going on in North Korea. People are literally being starved into forced labor.”
Whoopi then confronted her opinion:
“People came out together, he should have given enough respect to say ‘You know what? Maybe they are doing a good thing for themselves and maybe we can sit down with them at some point.’ But you can’t have it both ways,” Goldberg concluded.
What do you think about this? Do you support Vice President Mike Pence on this?
