The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg rebuked the audience off-air during an episode featuring President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle.
“The booing is f—ing us up,” Goldberg told the audience Thursday, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “It’s messing with everyone’s mic. You can grimace and all that. All we hear is booing.”
Trump Jr. was promoting his new book Triggered on the show, but the segment quickly devolved after hosts accused him of putting the alleged whistleblower’s life in danger after retweeting an article with the whistleblower’s name in the title.
Goldberg tried to get the audience back in line after the segment, but their loud participation continued throughout the episode.
After a commercial break, an audience member tried to confront Goldberg about comments she made in defense of Roman Polanski in 2009.
Trump Jr. also brought up Goldberg’s comments, and the host asked him if he was trying to question her character. Trump Jr. simply responded he was only trying to defend his father by pointing out the hosts of the show had done or said controversial things in the past too.
